Guests included a selection of influential politicians, some still in the army: Massachusetts Senator Charles Sumner, former Massachusetts Congressman George Ashmun, General George D. Ramsay and Gen. Robert Schenck and Cong. James Garfield and Samuel Hooper. Presidential politics may have been on the menu.
