President Lincoln Still in Bed

December 3, 1863

President Lincoln’s illness frees him from the usual stream of visitors to the White House seeking favors. The Washington Star reports: “We are glad to say that he is in a fair way for speedy recovery.” The First Lady, meanwhile, has traveled to New York City.
